Modern Living, was a high-end furniture store located in Los Angeles’ premiere shopping area of Melrose Boulevard. Offering furnishings from Le Courbosier, Cassina, Philip Stark and other notable designers. I felt very fortunate to have such beautiful products to advertise in the Los Angeles Times early in my career. Having designed several ads over the previous year, I suggested a new design that substituted my illustration of a sofa instead of the usual product photography. The illustration was distinctive and conveyed a sense of design while standing out from competitor’s photo-based ads. It also allowed for advertising across all products during the store’s sale.
